„What if Autism Isn’t the Problem?“

Hér er myndband sem ég rakst á og fannst afar áhugavert. Þarna fer Mike inn á mörg atriðið sem tengjast umhverfinu í kringum okkur og hvernig þau hafa áhrif á einstakling sem er einhverfur.

Í fyrsta hluta myndbandsins les hann upp úr bréfi sem fylgdi gögnunum um greininguna hans. Bréfið er frá sálfræðingi og að mínu mati er það bæði mjög uppbyggilegt og fallegt.
Þar kemur þetta m.a. fram:

„As you know, autism is not an intellectual disability or a mental illness. Although autism is sometimes described as a disorder and in a neurotypical designed world, being autistic can involved additional challenges when the right supports and environmental modifications made to make the environment accessible for autistic people are not made. Autism is a different neurotype and a valid way to be in this world.“
